One of our users posted the following.

I thought it extremely useful so I copied it here:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I didn't like the fact that aaNet didn't have a news server when I was looking for a ADSL provider, but I eventually found:

http://www.teranews.com

who you can sign up for (with a once-only fee of US$3.95) for free 50MB (max) daily NNTP downloads.

I've now been using them for a couple of weeks, and their newsfeeds seem good (much more reliable than Iprimus!), and they certainly meet all my needs.

The best thing is that a service like this makes you independent of any local ISP!

Seeing the hassle aaNet will have to go through to set up a news server, pehaps a service like this can be advertised to any prospective (or existing) users as a cost-effective solution?

A more cost effective solution is to sign up at http://www.individual.net which costs ZERO. :)

I have to agree with you Vile Merchant.

I'm using Individual.NET and it works a treat, especially since it's free!!

And you can now get News through PIPE, not all are accessible though... typically the "Binaries" groups, but sometimes I get the odd message or two come through on that.

A full list of the relevant pipe news access for your state is available below here

There's also some good mirrors available too.
