Vic Outage - 12/9/06 7:30am - 10:30am EST
All DSL services in Victoria for aaNet where offline or suffering severe performance degradation. All services where restored to full service by 10:30am EST.
Work was being performed to migrate the aaNet DSL infrastructure to a new Telstra service. The new service interface will deliver aaNet customers more network efficiencies and more available bandwidth for greater network speed, throughput and responsiveness.
The preparations for these changes had been made weeks in advance and unfortunately despite prior confirmation one of our upstream providers had not completed their preparatory work, which resulted in the outage.
Please be assured that all possible actions were taken to avoid any outage and that we regret any inconvenience caused to our customers.
This change was always intended to be 100% transparent and would have been but for the failure of an upstream provider, we were hoping to surprise you with the good news
With work now complete aaNet customers will notice that there are now multiple IP bandwidth providers supplying bandwidth to them in addition to various peering networks such as Pipe Networks. This means greater path diversity, so in the case of a supplier outage, we can re-route via another supplier as well as direct connectivity to more sites.
